Drumlin Hill Farms, located on Lincoln Road, is a farm aptly named for the drumlin it is located on. The actual name of the drumlin is Hathaway Hill. A drumlin is formed when sediment builds up in front of the glacier. When too much sediment builds up, the glacier flows over it creating a steep hill facing the opposite direction that the glacier is moving. As the glacier slowly plows over the hill, it smooths the other side and creates a long shallow hill that faces the direction that the glacier is moving. Because of this, drumlins can be very useful for determining which direction the glacier was moving. In the picture, the glacier was moving towards the south-south-east, because that is the direction that the drumlin is pointing.
